I am a mother of three and my son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes unexpectedly. He was the oldest and only 10 yrs old. We were devasted and unfamilar with this disease. We definately were not prepared for the life long battle we had entered. At the time he was diagnosed it was very difficult to manage sugar levels. One would have to use determine doses need of short-term and long-term acting insulin, requiring two vials and syringes.  When diabetics are taking up to 7 shots daily, they experience painful sore spots and scars.

inspiration

Having a child or loved one with this debilitating disease is so frightening and stressful,  24/7.  Diabetes is becoming an epidemic, if not Type 1 then everyday thousands are getting diagnosed with Type 2.  Our dream is to have a cure (not just treatment) for this autoimmune disease.

dream

My husband and I refuse to settle for treatments alone. We decided to take action. My husband left his business and dedicated his life to travel the globe and explore any protocol available to cure our son. With the  small biotech company spearheading for the cure.

I started this foundation. Beat Diabetes Now is a 501 (c)(3) organization. Trying to raise money led to many failures.  Talk about the struggles you had building the foundation and getting people to raise money (usher and events that didnt work) Investments,

At For over 11 years, my husband and I have been working alongside eachother.

hard work

Atlucell is a synthetic biology and biotechnology company developing molecular and regenerative medicine for the treatment of autoimmune and neurodegenerative disorders. They have achieved a patented delivery system that has the potential to reverse the diseases. In my opinion, I found that they have the most promising science and BDN will give 100% of proceeds to the cure. For more information on who we support, visit

goal

change

At present it is slightly easier for diabetics especially children to maintain
their sugar levels due to more options of administrating insulin. There are insulin pens and closed loop systems (having a tube attached to your body 24/7). However, these are no cures and require expensive and time-consuming maintenance.

Diabetics, no matter what they choose, still have to deal with hypoglycemic and
hyperglycemic sugars daily. They suffere daily from mood swings, dizziness, weakness and so many other symptoms that pharmaceutical companies see has "alerts" to use their products. These alerts may be reminders or warning signs to prevent death. This is what a diabetic has to do every single day.

Pharmaceutical companies are always going to fight for treatment. It is a consistent revenue source. The current mantra is not to find a cure, it is to keep patients alive.

BDN wants change! We want our son, and diabetics everywhere, to do more than survive. BDN wants diabetics to thrive.

Help us change diabetes forever, and replace the treatments with a cure!
